Green Solar Energy

The Carbon Zero Cities website has been made by Peder Vejsig Pedersen, civil engineer, partner and chairman of the board of European Green Cities, in connection to the finalisation of the Smart Energy Green project in 2021.

The present part of the website is included to present different background material made by Peder Vejsig Pedersen in connection to more than 45 years of work on solar energy use and low energy building in practice, primarily based on the job as Director of Cenergia Energy Consultants from 1982 to 2019.

The practical work on PV implementation projects started in Denmark in 1990 initiated by Peder Vejsig Pedersen.

But due to an uncontrolled roll out of PV in 2012 due to a mix of having the highest electricity taxes in the world and large reductions of PV costs especially from China, the Danish government introduced several barriers for use of PV, which meant that especially the market for PV placed in connection to buildings were almost stopped for a number of years (see “Sol over Danmark“) concerning this. Unfortunately this also led to very reduced RTD activities in Denmark, which means that important work on making the PV technology more sustainable has not taken place.

It is however the aim of European Green Cities to support the ongoing development of more sustainable PV systems in practice by introducing a new “Green PV” label for sustainable PV, which has a positive LCA score in practice, and to do this in cooperation with international certification organisations e.g. “Danish Standard” in Denmark.

And it is quite obvious that if this shall be possible, then we have to rely on European or even Scandinavian PV producers, where it is possible to use more sustainable electricity for the PV production, so you can obtain a good LCA score.

Finally it should be mentioned that besides the present website, there is also a lot of information in the two websites: www.activehouseroofsandfacades.com and www.activehouseBIPV.com
